How to Paint Landscape Watercolors?

Here is a new watercolor painting by Rick Hardcaslte.

With this painting, notice it is only using purple and a little yellow. These are contrasting colors in the color wheel, so compliment each other well.

Using a monochrome or duo-chrome creates such a unity to a painting. It emphasizes the tonal values much more, so one can really notice the depth in the painting especially for a landscape painting where one is looking to create depth and distance.
